The Prime Power School held an assumption-of-command ceremony for 1st Sgt. Richard Siver Friday at Fort Leonard Wood's John B. Mahaffey Museum.
Siver, a former combat engineer, reclassed as a 12P and graduated from the U.S. Army Prime Power School in 2006, when it was still located in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
"I really valued my time spent at the schoolhouse when I was a student, and I've wanted to return to this great institution since the time that I graduated about 12 years ago," Siver said. He added he was deeply humbled by the opportunity given to him. "I'm really fortunate that I've been given an opportunity where I can continue to contribute to the Prime Power community and to continue the mentorship of its noncommissioned officers."
Command Sgt. Maj. Faith Alexander, 249th Engineer Battalion in Fort Belvoir, oversaw the ceremony and addressed the students, cadre and civilians in attendance.
"Everyone in the organization, feels confident that you are receiving an outstanding first sergeant and leader," she said. "I expect nothing but excellence in the upcoming years from 1st Sgt. Siver and his team."
Alexander then turned to Siver, saying he has big shoes to fill and high expectations to meet. She said she knows he will continue to refine and shape the organization.
"I have faith and confidence in your abilities to lead the Prime Power School in its challenges and successes," she said. "As a valuable member of the team, I have no doubt you will bring great ideas and enthusiasm to the Prime Power School."
Siver said he looks forward to continuing the successful improvements of the school and the mentorship of its NCOs.
The U.S. Army Prime Power School officially opened on Fort Leonard Wood in 2010 as a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure program.
