Of more than 61,000 employees, only 11 were chosen as recipients for the 2017 Louis Dellamonica Award for AMC Outstanding Personnel of the Year. Heather Hamilton, command strategic planner for Headquarters Army Materiel Command, was one of those eleven.

The Dellamonica Award recognizes AMC employees whose career exemplifies integrity, innovation, leadership, and outstanding dedication to AMC's mission. Hamilton was one of two employees chosen to represent headquarters' staff.

Hamilton has been with AMC for more than seven years and has been serving as one of the Commanding General's top command strategic planners since March 2014.

"I was surprised to be a recipient of the Dellamonica Award," said Hamilton. "There are so many people within Headquarters Army Materiel Command who do a fantastic job supporting the Army mission and the warfighter. It is definitely an honor to have been nominated and selected."

Through her initiative and positive attitude, Hamilton has consistently set the standard for outstanding work performance, which has not gone unnoticed. Since 2005, she has been the recipient of sixteen awards.

Mike Mullins, deputy director for the Commander's Initiatives Group, nominated Hamilton for her achievements, dedication and exemplary performance of duty.

"Heather has the ability to quickly craft key strategic command messages with little or no guidance in a way that clearly and succinctly articulates the CG's vision and intent to the designated audience," Mullins said. "Her efforts to meticulously synchronize all events ensure that each engagement is a success."

Due to her knowledge, expertise and willingness to help, Hamilton is often sought after by other action officers in the command. Throughout her career, Hamilton has served as a coach, mentor and trainer to incoming action officers ensuring that they become valuable, contributing members of the office in an effective and timely manner.

"Heather is a great team player who often looked for how she could help others with their projects," said Mullins. "She leads by example every day and personifies the integrity, innovation, leadership, and outstanding dedication of Louis Dellamonica."

"Dedicated employees whose work accomplishments significantly contribute to AMC's mission and overarching goals and objectives allow AMC to constantly sustain and support warfighters," said Maj. Gen. Allan Elliott, AMC's deputy chief of staff.
