Lt. Gen. Kenneth R. Dahl, Commanding General of U.S. Army Installation Management Command, celebrated the Army's 243rd birthday June 14 as guest speaker at the World Affairs Council of San Antonio, headed by Leslie Palmer, Executive Director, and Nicolas Hollis, 2018 Chairman. He was joined in cutting a birthday cake by the oldest and youngest Soldiers for Life attending the event.

Dahl spoke about the Nation -- Nation with a capital N. He described "our Nation" as "all of us working together as partners ─ civil authorities, businesses, nonprofits, philanthropists, service providers and volunteers ─ to care for our Soldiers and their Families." He noted how increased integration in communities around Army installations strengthens the Nation, adding, "Partnerships close the military-civilian divide and bring us closer. The fence line of a garrison is not a border or the English Channel."
