FORT BENNING, Ga. (June 13, 2018) - The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center announced the Headquarters, Department of the Army, Army Safety Award winners recently at a recognition dinner during the Emerging Leader Safety and Occupational Health Professional Development Summit at Fort Benning, Georgia.

For fiscal 2017, 15 individuals and organizations were recognized for Army excellence in safety. Mr. Eugene Collins, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for Environment, Safety and Occupational Health; Col. Christopher Waters, acting commander, USACRC; and Command Sgt. Maj. Ernest Bowen Jr., USACRC, presented this year's awards.

With the expansion of award categories this year, commands competed against like organizations. This offered smaller organizations a greater opportunity to compete with other like organizations, Waters said.

"Due to the addition of four individual categories, more safety professionals were able to compete against others in like grades, allowing for more individuals to be recognized for their contributions in loss prevention," Waters said.

"Acknowledging organizations and individuals for their excellence in safety and occupational health and their loss prevention efforts will inspire others to bolster their programs and further contribute to protect the Army's valuable resources," Bowen added.
