Combined Arms Center Realigns Army Joint Support Team

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- The Combined Arms Center has realigned the Army Joint Support Team under the Mission Command Center of Excellence effective May 1, 2018. The AJST was previously an organization within Combined Arms Center-Training's portfolio.

"The realignment of AJST to MCCoE aligns the doctrine, training, education and proponency for air ground operations and airspace management under the same headquarters," said Lt. Gen. Michael D. Lundy, CAC Commanding General. "This will enable us to get even greater synergy to work solutions for the myriad of complex issues we will face in multi-domain operations."

AJST provides joint air-ground integration training and education with the 505th Command and Control Wing at Hurlburt Field, Fla., and the 57th Operations Group at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The team is responsible for 15 courses that deliver training to more than 4,200 U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and U.S. Special Operations Command students annually. Other missions include support to battlefield coordination detachments worldwide and to the Mission Command Training Program through event planning, exercise design, and providing of observer-coach/trainers to train corps and division headquarters in joint air-ground operations.

The core missions of AJST will not change and no physical moves will take place as part of this transition. The move does, however, tie together all the different organizations that have a part to play in training and proponency for joint air-ground operations and will achieve a tighter degree of coordination, according to Thomas Jordan, MCCoE deputy director.

"We continue to be focused on readiness for the warfighter, and this move allows us to achieve a better unity of effort and synergy on some issues to affect our Army and the joint force," said AJST Director Col. Chad Ward. "The transition has been smooth, and we look forward to being part of the MCCoE team."
