The Fort Knox community now has another place on post where they can get their vehicles cleaned, with the recent opening of Kwik Kar Wash Express.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony April 18, the car wash opened its doors at 1608 Wilson Road, Bldg. 713.

Jon Clarkson, site manager, said the car wash is conveniently located on the corner of Spearhead Division Avenue and Wilson Road, next to

the shoppette and across the street from Ireland Army Health Clinic.

The Kwik Kar company, based out of Missouri, negotiated a contract with the U.S. Army to operate car washes at 15 bases, Clarkson said.

Taking over the spot of a previous car wash, Clarkson said construction turned into a complete renovation, adding 30 additional feet to the building and complete with high tech equipment. The top-of-the-line equipment includes RFID readers, installed for monthly memberships, and state-of-the-art brushes.

The car wash offers three different cleaning packages: basic for $9; supreme for $12 and supreme with tire shine for $15.

Unlimited Wash Club monthly memberships

for these services are

$22, $26 and $30.

"The monthly membership is the best deal," Clarkson said.

He explained that members can use the car wash as many times as they want in a month for the cost of almost two individual car washes.

The car wash also helps with a cleaning touch-up to a car covered in mud from a weekend of mudding, he said, adding if it's super muddy, patrons can run the car through twice in one day, if they have a monthly membership.

Kwik Kar Wash Express is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
