Italian Liberation Day

VICENZA, Italy (April 25, 2018) - USAG Italy Garrison Commander Col. Erik Berdy talks to an Italian World War II Alpini veteran and USAG Italy Public Affairs Specialist Anna Ciccotti interprets following an Italian Liberation Day celebration.  Berdy and Command Sgt. Major Mason Bryant joined mayors from six towns in Mason Vicentino to mark the 73rd anniversay of Italian Liberation Day.  Liberation Day (Festa della Liberazione) remembers Italians who fought against the Germany and Mussolini's troops during World War II. More than 300 attended the ceremonies including veterans of World War II, Italian Alpini chapters, school groups and a community band.  Mayor of Mason Vicentino Massimo Pavan thanked the U.S. Army officials and on behalf of the other five mayors, expressed thanks for the support and friendship between the Italian and American communities.
