FORT BENNING, Ga. (April 23, 2018) -- There is a 100 percent chance of downpours in this Chaplain's Corner from Chaplain (Capt.) Myron Christopher Byles, 1st Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment.
The smell of rain from the sky is so refreshing to me. I love to see the showers cool off the hot pavement on a summer day. Most people sleep well when the waters from heaven fall to the earth. April is known as the rainiest month of the year. Most folks will never plan a picnic in April. You are asking for trouble if you do so. Today, I want to share with you the importance of showers this month.
There is a great passage of scripture that further explain the reason for showers in our lives. Jeremiah 14:22 states the following: "Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is You, Lord, our God. Therefore our hope is in You, for You are the one that does all this."
Many people will complain about the constant rain that will take place this month. Most folks will not think about the blessing behind the outpouring of the waters from heaven. God has a unique way for communicating with His chosen people. There is no power on earth that can do what our God can do for us. He reminds us in His word of His faithfulness to us. He will never leave us or forsake us. No matter what you face this month, please know that God is walking beside you. God will be with you through every storm you encounter.
Last but not least, God wants us to trust in Him. God wants us to see His handiwork. God is responsible for hanging the sun, moon and stars in the sky. God has a purpose for the showers that comes to us. God wants a personal and intimate relationship with His children. He opens the waters from heaven so that we can have a visible sign of His love for us. Never doubt God's love for you. Never question the existence of God. He proves His majestic nature every time He waters the earth with the showers in April.
