CAMP ROBERTS, California -- The 523rd Composite Truck Company deployed a headquarters platoon, palletized load system platoon, and convoy security platoon to Camp Roberts, California in support of Bayonet Focus Jan. 25 to Feb 24. Throughout the exercise, 523rd CTC provided echelons above brigade (EAB) transportation assets and convoy security support to 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division, and tenant units at Camp Roberts.

The headquarters platoon managed operations, troop leading procedures at the company level, and battle-tracked convoys via radio and GPS systems.

The palletized load system platoon provided transportation assets for the movement and distribution of dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, general non-containerized cargo and ammunition.

The convoy security platoon provided security during all operations.

In total, the 523rd executed 33 convoys and distributed 84 pallets of food and subsistence, 126,000 gallons of water, and 105,000 gallons of fuel to 1-2 SBCT throughout the training exercise. Additionally, 523rd CTC conducted a convoy to the National Training Center to pick up and then distribute fuel and repair parts to the brigade.

This support was instrumental in extending 1-2 SBCT's operational reach and endurance during Bayonet Focus.

The 523rd CTC received positive external evaluations from observer-controllers and trainers from 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, 7th Infantry Division, on preparing a unit for tactical convoys and troop leading procedures.

The 523rd will implement lessons learned with the intent of maintaining strengths and improving upon planning and execution of unit standard operating procedures.
