Fort Jackson's Child and Youth programs will host family fun events throughout the month of April in celebration of Month of the Military Child. The Month of the Military Child is observed annually in April this year's theme is Brave Hearts, Resilient Souls.

According to Sunny Bolton Fort Jackson Child Youth Service Coordinator, these events will include parades, bubble parties, dress-up parties, lock-ins, arts and crafts, games and the Family Fun Fair event April 13 at Patriots Park.

Bolton said April is a special month because of who the children being honored belong to.

"The Month of the Military Child is important to Fort Jackson because the Military Children and Youth are the most valuable possessions of the country's most valuable people -- our service members," Bolton said. "We honor our service members everyday by providing care for their children -- we take a month to celebrate the lives of these youngest 'Soldiers' who also sacrifice daily while their moms and dads support our nation. The children and youth are like no other -- free spirited, tough, resilient, strong and brave. They are brave hearts and resilient souls."

Information concerning specific dates and times of Month of the Military Child events may be obtained by contacting the Child and Youth Service program your child participates in. Families are encouraged to take part in any and all events as Fort Jackson celebrates Month of the Military Child.
