Soldiers of Dragon Company, 1st Battalion 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division case their company guidon during a ceremony at Fort Stewart, Ga., Sept. 21, 2017. The casing is part of a larger effort to convert the entire Spartan Brigade from a light infantry to an armored brigade combat team.
Next month, the "Battle Boar" Battalion will convert from an infantry battalion to a combined arms battalion. The unit has successfully deployed in support of full spectrum combat operations since World War I and most recently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
