The Bruce C. Clarke Library debuted their new collaboration area at a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday.
Several Fort Leonard Wood senior leaders and patrons joined the library staff as they celebrated the renovations which were the result of the Million Dollar Makeover Initiative in 2015.
According to Claretta Crawford, library director, Bruce C. Clarke Library staff members submitted three ideas for the contest.
"Of the three submissions by the library staff, the collaboration area was selected to receive $94,928 for upgrading," Crawford said. "The new design features a bistro atmosphere that includes gaming stations, conference, study and bistro style tables, new furniture and charging stations."
Winners of the contest were announced in October 2015, and the Bruce C. Clarke Library was one of five MWR libraries in the Central Region whose submission was selected.
"All MWR libraries had the opportunity to compete in the Million Dollar Makeover Initiative. Funding was specifically targeted for updating children, teen and collaboration areas," Crawford said. "This is a great moment for our library."
Col. Tracy Lanier, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Leonard Wood commander, joined Crawford in cutting the ribbon. Lanier thanked all the different organizations for making the renovation possible.
"This happened because of the team effort," Lanier said.
