KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany -- A strong sponsorship program is essential to welcoming newcomers and their loved ones into the Rheinland-Pfalz community. To make this happen, U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz will hold its fourth-annual Total Army Sponsorship Program Rodeo at Armstrong's Club on Vogelweh, March 22, to help supervisors and sponsors gather accurate information about community resources to support inbound personnel.

"The goal of the TASP Rodeo is to ensure the Army in Europe has an effective sponsorship program by informing leaders of their responsibilities and ensuring they gain the knowledge and tools necessary to create and maintain an effective sponsorship program within each of their units," said Deborah Galimore, USAG RP Installation Sponsorship liaison and Installation Training coordinator.

Success of TASP is contingent upon the involvement of the commander and unit leaders, she said, which is critical to Soldiers, civilian employees and family members to ensure they receive the services required to facilitate a seamless transition into and out of commands and installations. Effective sponsorship contributes to unit and individual resiliency, readiness, cohesion and esprit de corps -- and ultimately, a stronger team. That's why TASP is an important program to ensure newcomers are equipped with reliable information and resources to make their transition to Germany as smooth as possible.

"TASP Rodeo offers 14 booths consisting of various agencies that play a role in the program," she explained. "The event is open to all military and civilian leaders, unit sponsorship program managers and coordinators and family readiness group leaders in the Kaiserslautern and Baumholder communities.

Each attendee will be given a passport to be stamped after they receive training at each booth. The garrison will track leader attendance and later the passport will be provided back to commanders and unit sponsorship coordinators to confirm successful training completion."

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the event taking place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Training will take approximately three hours to complete, so participants must arrive no later than 11:30 a.m.

The event will feature the following agencies: Garrison Sponsorship, Community Reception, Unit Sponsorship, Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Ramstein Gateway Reception Center; Child & Youth Services, School Liaison Officer, Army Community Service Sponsorship Training and Resources, Spouse Sponsorship, Regional Health Command-Europe, Housing, Community In-Processing and TRICARE.

"Please come out and support. We want everyone to have the opportunity to see the benefits of a great sponsorship program," Galimore concluded.
