January 2018, a team of 20 Soldiers from 67th Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 35th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade supported the network modification efforts at Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD).
The mission consisted of two teams, an installation team and a configuration team. The installation team, led by I3MP employees, were tasked with the installation of CISCO network switches. There were a total of eight, two Soldiers teams that deployed up to three locations daily; working hand-in-hand with network engineers to accomplish the mission.
The configuration team, a two Soldier crew under the coordination of the installation's employees successfully configured an average of 80 network switches per day.
The integration of both teams expedited the mission allowing for the installation of over 200 switches that allowed for the upgrade of the TYAD infrastructure. The unique configuration and installation of switches was integral to the functionality and occupation purposes of
each of the Army Depot's installation buildings.
Their role was instrumental to allow the depot to continue their on-going mission in providing logistics support including sustainment, fabrication, integration and field
support to Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems for the Joint Warfighter-Worldwide.
The 67th Expeditionary Signal Battalion stands ready to deploy and provide support to on-going missions worldwide. It is missions like these that capture the vital role of signal units in providing network capabilities to customers in response to the growth in technological advances.
