HONOLULU (February 6, 2018) - The U.S. Army Medical Command Director of Public Affairs, Col. Wayne Marotto, right, and MEDCOM Public Affairs Executive Officer, Lt. Col. Melissa Gue, right-center, receive a historical tour of Tripler Army Medical Center, also known as TAMC, during a site visit to learn more about Army Medicine in the Pacific region, accompanied by the Regional Health Command - Pacific Director of Communications, Ana Allen, left-center, and facilitated by the TAMC Protocol Officer, Joel Jenkins, left. The group also attended a command brief led by TAMC Acting Commander, Col. Aatif Sheikh, discussing TAMC's mission to serve patients and their families, with emphasis on medical readiness by enabling a ready medical force. One way TAMC empowers a ready medical force is through the hospital's commitment towards training, education, and research, the cornerstones of Army readiness. Marotto and Gue later observed a simulation-based training demonstration at the TAMC Simulation Center, which supports 12 graduate medical education training programs at the hospital. TAMC's investment in graduate medical education is a testament to the dedication of maintaining an environment where clinical research can flourish alongside health care professionals all while maintaining the highest level of patient care.
