WIESBADEN, Germany -- U.S. Army Europe recognized four Soldiers and two civilians at the 2017 Frederick E. Vollrath Human Resource Award for Excellence Program ceremony, Jan. 10.

The winners are:

• Capt. H. David A. Hannon, 509th Signal Battalion, 2nd Signal Brigade, Vicenza, Italy

• Chief Warrant Officer 2 Vance W. Frazier II, 30th Medical Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Sembach, Germany

• Sgt. 1st Class Taisha R. Allen, Allied Forces South Battalion, U.S. Army NATO Brigade, Naples, Italy

• Spc. Sebrina N. Shelton, 5-7 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, 10th Army Air & Missile Defense Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany

• Deborah McGlothlin, Installation Management Agency Command Europe, Sembach, Germany

• Daniel Washington, Jr., United States Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany

The program was named after retired Lt. Gen. Frederick E. Vollrath and developed to recognize human resource personnel for their quality service and leadership. Vollrath was a 45-year professional in the human resources field and second adjutant general officer to be promoted to lieutenant general.

United States Army Europe's Deputy Commanding General for Mobilization and Reserve Affairs Brig. Gen. Kate Leahy emphasized the importance of the program and its role in helping recognize excellence among human resource professional.

"There are HR professionals within USAREUR that are doing superb work, day in and day out, literally seeking no recognition other than their own realization that what they are doing is worthwhile and taking satisfaction in helping people out," Leahy said. "We have to take every action and treat it as though it is your own."

Allen, an HR professional and Vollrath recipient was humbled by receiving the award.

"Receiving this award is a great accomplishment for me, "Allen said. "HR has been my passion my whole life and I take pride in what I do. It's great to be acknowledged for your hard work and commitment… This awards further lets me know, it's not going unnoticed."
