Rock Island Arsenal, Ill. -- With a passion to assist her Joint Munitions Command teammates, a new Equal Employment Opportunity Director, Tamara Moland, has been selected to serve at the headquarters, here.
In this position, Moland is responsible for execution of JMC's EEO Program to include formulation of an EEO Policy, establishment and implementation of EEO Affirmative Employment and Management Directive, managing the Special Emphasis program, and supporting the Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan. She will also manage JMC's EEO discrimination complaints process, oversee EEO training, and ensure compliance within the command and its subordinate installations.
She was recently selected to permanently fill a position that had become vacant when the previous director accepted another government assignment. She will serve as the principal EEO advisor to the JMC commander and senior leaders.
"I am honored and excited to serve as the EEO Director for JMC," said Moland. "It will be both a challenging and rewarding position and I am totally dedicated to assisting the command as it supports the Army's mission."
Previously, Moland served as the Director of the Army and Air Force Equal Employment Opportunity Office located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Tacoma, Washington. JBLM is a primary military installation on the West Coast, where she served in a similar role supporting more than 20,000 Army civilians, military, retirees, veterans and their Families.
Moland is a native of the Pacific Northwest. She began her government service in 2005 at the Bureau of Land Management as its Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinator.
"My job as an EEO professional is to meet the organization's baseline and strive toward building a model EEO program," Moland noted. "JMC will get there by collaborating with internal and external partners to recruit, train and retain the most inclusive workforce to meet mission readiness efforts."
Moland has served in several EEO positions, but this will be the first time she has lived in the Midwest region.
"I am definitely looking forward to meeting and interacting with my new Midwestern teammates," she added. "I am here to provide EEO guidance to this staff and our senior leaders as needed, and my door is always open."
