ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. - Dignitaries from three of the arsenal's largest commands gathered at U.S. Army Sustainment Command Headquarters here to sign a memorandum of agreement, establishing a joint developmental opportunities program Dec. 14.

The Career Enhancement Opportunities Program is scheduled to officially launch in January 2018.

The event was hosted by Michael Hutchison, deputy to the commander, ASC. Also participating were Melanie Johnson, deputy to the commander, Joint Munitions Command and Jay Carr, executive director, Army Contracting Command - Rock Island. All three serve in the Senior Executive Service.

"We are going to cooperate amongst all of the organizations on the island for, really the first time in a major way," Hutchison said. "I look at this as just a first step. We are going to be doing a whole lot more in regards to cooperation. The whole intent is for us to share best practices between organizations because even though we are on a relatively small installation, we sometimes tend to get stove-piped, and we all have good ideas, so this is a good chance for us to learn from each other."

The CEO Program is an inter-command agreement that provides a platform for employees to seek and obtain career enhancement and broadening experiences that will be beneficial to both them and their home organization.

The program is designed to foster skill set development in both technical and leadership fields, encourage teamwork, network and partnering, and assist in readiness by sharing best practices that would otherwise only be known within the organization.

"We are very excited," said Shelonda Broyles, program specialist, ASC G-1 (Human Resources), who is the CEO Program manager for ASC. "We are looking forward to pushing the program out to the workforce, providing opportunities not only to broaden their own skill sets, but to share what they know with those in other commands."

The program will entail job swaps, developmental assignments, job shadowing opportunities and more. To start, employees from ASC, JMC and ACC - Rock Island will be able to participate. The program will begin expanding to other island organizations in February 2018.

Information and Q&A sessions will be held in December for individuals interested in learning more about the program. Additional sessions will be added in January if necessary to accommodate those who could not attend in December.
