FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (Dec. 18 , 2017) -- Dina La Porta, benefits specialist for NAF personnel services, won G9 IMCOM Employee of the Fiscal Year 2017, awarded by Mr. Paul Burk, director of G9 IMCOM, at the end-of-year town hall meeting.
Gloria Mick, medical program manager for NAF personnel services, nominated La Porta based on her extraordinary work ethic, answering hundreds of emails and voicemails throughout the day and going above and beyond this year in preparation for benefits open enrollment.
"La Porta takes a genuine interest in every single customer," Mick said in the nomination package presented to the G9 office. "She always delivers what she promised with courtesy, a smile in her voice and a positive can-do attitude, with respect for the concerns of her customer."
La Porta handled the staggering numbers of over 7,000 NAF employee, 13,000 retiree enrollments and files according to award officials. She consistently received positive feedback from customers through ICE praising her dedication and help.
IMCOM's commander Lt. Gen. Kenneth Dahl showed his appreciation as well, saying, "Ms. La Porta's outstanding performance and dedication to excellence reflects great credit on herself, the Installation Management Command and the United States Army."
Anne Bright, NAF benefits operations manager, showered La Porta with praise for her devotion to the mission and outstanding service.
"La Porta is a consummate professional dedicated to serving the NAF workforce and their families," Bright said. "Dina epitomizes the IMCOM values of selfless service and commitment to excellence. She is a valued member of our NAF Employee Benefits Team and we congratulate her (for) selection as the IMCOM G9 EOY."
When asked about her achievement, La Porta bashfully mentioned she is very excited and the recognition reignites her passion to keep doing as much as she can for the customers. She also gave credit to her fellow coworkers and supervisor.
"I'm so proud of the award and being able to represent our Medical Benefits Team! It truly is a Team effort that allows us to provide the high level of service that this award represents," she said
Her dedication to the job was evidenced when La Porta stated her goals for next year, "I'd like to participate in advanced healthcare benefits training opportunities to expand my knowledge. It's my passion to make sure that our employees receive the best benefits from their health coverage plan," La Porta explained.
La Porta received a plaque, a 24 hour time off award and a gift card.
La Porta's work reflects the instillation's Service Culture Initiative, which encourages employees to display a positive attitude toward tasks and customers.
