2017 High Reliability in Healthcare Awards Announced

FORT SAM HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Congratulations to the following Army Medicine Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) for their achievements in the 2017 Advancement toward High Reliability in Healthcare Awards Program competition. The winners were in the categories of Healthcare Quality and Safety, Improved Access and Patient Engagement.

Healthcare Quality and Safety:

- Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital -- "Increase HEDIS The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) is a registered trademark of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). HEDIS low back pain imaging compliance at MEDDAC-Korea."

- U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield -- "Winn Army Community Hospital clinical improvement of low back pain."

Improved Access in Specialty or Ancillary Care:

- Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC) -- "Decrease preoperative appointment duration at MAMC."

Patient Engagement:

- San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) -- "The Supervision Stoplight: A Visual Aid to Patients Recognition of GME Supervision Hierarchy."

The Advancement toward High Reliability in Healthcare Awards Program aims to recognize those who have shown initiative and commitment to the development of systems and processes that will help advance the MHS towards its goal of becoming a safer, higher quality system that promotes an environment of continuous learning and sharing.

The Department of Defense is on a journey to transform the Military Health System (MHS) into a high reliability organization to ensure safe, reliable care for all patients and their families. Today, across the MHS, there are a number of actions already in motion to help the MHS advance toward high reliability and ensure that they partner with patients every step of the way to provide the care they deserve.
