November 30, 2017 1 / 2 Fort Jackson's 282nd Army Band provides accompaniment Monday evening for the annual Governor's Carolighting celebration at the South Carolina Statehouse. The event included musical performances for choirs and bands from around the Midlands, culminating shortly before 8 p.m. with the lighting of the state's Christmas tree on Gervais Street. Fort Jackson assisted Henry McMaster, South Carolina governor, ring in the holidays by participating in the annual Governor's Carolighting celebration on the statehouse steps. At the celebration the 282nd Army Band provided music while Maj. Gen. Pete Johnson, Fort Jackson commander, and his wife sat with McMaster.
