SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA -- Taking care of patients and becoming professional is a day to day quality that Maj. Gen. Barbara Holcomb, commanding general, U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command Fort Detrick, MD; and Chief, U.S. Army Nurse Corps, echoed to the leadership and staff of the Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital on U.S. Army Garrison-Yongsan during her Oct. 31, 2017 Korea visit.
During her visit to the BAACH, Holcomb received a clear picture and description of the organizational structure and capabilities of the hospital, along with highlighted readiness and safety successes, as well as current and future continuous process initiatives.
After her brief from the hospital command, Holcomb conducted a virtual town hall addressing issues such as patient care and professional development.
As this was her second visit to the BAACH, Holcomb stated that she was impressed by the work and success the BAACH has had in meeting U.S. Army Medical Command's policies of access to care.
"I am proud of what I have seen today," said Holcomb. "You are practicing the professional practicing model the same as it is done at every medical facility whether that is in a specialty clinic setting or ambulatory care center or field hospital."
At the town hall, Holcomb stressed the importance of professional development, mentoring and counseling subordinates by growing professionally.
"It is about interaction with people you work with and work for, that relationship building and the care you provide to people that makes you stand out," said Holcomb.
