Deputy to the Garrison Commander

United States Army Garrison Yongsan

Mr. Wertz assumed responsibilities as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander with the U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan in November 2017. He serves as the commander's principal civilian executive and advisor on all matters relating to installation management and operations. Mr. Wertz also exercises responsibility for providing garrison-wide services in support of over 22,000 Service members, Families, Retirees, and Civilians.

Mr. Wertz has over 35 years of Garrison experience. His previous assignments include Director, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan; Deputy to the Garrison Commander, U.S. Army Garrison Japan; Director, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, U.S. Army Garrison Japan; Director, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, 98th Area Support Group, Wuerzburg, Germany; Deputy to the Garrison Commander, Bamberg, Germany; Director, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Camp Darby, Italy; and Community Manager, Aschaffenburg, Germany.

Mr. Wertz was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The son of a U.S. Army Soldier, he spent much of his childhood living on various Army bases across the U.S. and Germany.

After serving eight years in the U.S. Army, Mr. Wertz took a job with the Department of Defense, and has spent most of his career working in Germany, Italy, Japan and Korea. Mr. Wertz holds a bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Maryland.
