SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (November 8, 2017) - Wounded warrior athletes from across the Pacific region compete in Paralympic-style swimming events during day one of Pacific Regional Trials 2017 at Richardson Pool, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Swimming events include the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard breaststroke in both men's and women's categories. There are also two combined 200-yard freestyle relays. The Pacific Regional Trials takes place during November, which also coincides with Warrior Care Month. During Warrior Care Month, U.S. Army Warrior Transition Units focus on activities and adaptive sports that communicate the Army's commitment to wounded, ill, and injured soldiers, their families, and caregivers, and to emphasize the Warrior Transition Unit Soldiers' number one priority, to work as hard on their recovery as they work on defending the nation.
