Staff from the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Division of Women's Health and Newborn Care met with host nation Obstetrics/Gynecology and Neonatology partners from the Universitatsklinikum Des Saarlandes in Homburg, Nov. 3.

The meeting was an opportunity for the LRMC staff to meet the host nation providers and establish a relationship that will help both hospitals in the Kaiserslautern Military Community better TRICARE patients.

The two hospitals work together to provide comprehensive OB/GYN care. LRMC sends patients to Homburg who are likely to deliver their baby before 28 weeks gestation, the current neonatal intensive care unit limitation at LRMC, or if a baby requires sub-specialty pediatric care that is unavailable at LRMC.

During the meeting, LRMC and host nation partners discussed upcoming patient transfers and the process for referrals. LRMC providers toured the obstetrics clinic, labor and deliver unit, and the NICU.

The group plans to meet at least yearly in an effort to maintain continuity due to the frequent changes of military personnel.
