The Corpus Christi Army Depot and Zachary Kolda Elementary School formally entered into a partnership that includes CCAD mentors and volunteers serving as role models to Kolda students, in a historic ceremony on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017.
Held in the school multipurpose room, CCAD Commander Col. Allan H. Lanceta, Kolda Principal Miss Josie Alvarez and Corpus Christi Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez shared this momentous event with students and family members by signing a partnership pledge that signifies their commitment to student achievement, education and community support.
CCAD looks forward to this significant endeavor and recognizes that this collaborative effort would not be possible without a dedicated community partnership to positively impact students. CCAD will engage students with guest speakers, educational tours and mentors as part of the partnership.
Zachary Kolda Elementary School, part of CCISD, is named after Marine Cpl. Zachary Kolda, who was killed on December 2004 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Zachary will be a role model for children for years to come, not because of how he died, but because of the great way he lived his life, always in service to others.
