As part of a three-day visit to the Regional Health Command-Pacific at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Washington, the U.S. Army Surgeon General and Commanding General, U.S. Army Medical Command, Lt. Gen. Nadja Y. West, conducted an Oct. 3 town hall for brigade and battalion command teams assigned to JBLM. The town hall, attended by approximately 80 commanders and their command sergeants major, was an opportunity for West to reinforce the importance of readiness and Army medicine's role and commitment to maintaining the readiness capability of the force. As an expeditionary and globally integrated medical force, West said, "If we don't get this right, it doesn't matter what else we get right." West also talked about the Performance Triad, positive outcomes, and how leaders across the Army truly appreciate the emphasis the program places on good health. "When people come up to me and say, 'we've embraced the tenets of the performance triad in our unit,' it shows that leaders are passionate about it," she said. During the one-hour town hall, West responded to a variety of questions ranging from the Army's new e-profile system to traumatic brain injury to the nation-wide opioid problem and Department of Defense's new electronic health record, MHS GENESIS.
