WIESBADEN, Germany -- U.S. Army Europe's Host Nation Relations office, with support from the unit's Mission Command and Bundeswehr elements organized a headquarters visit for the Frankfurt City Council, Sept. 21.

The visitors included representatives from two political parties as well as the Speaker of the City Council, Stephan Siegler, the Chief of the City's Public Order office, and a U.S. member of the KAV (Kommunale Ausländervertretung), Kerry Reddington, responsible for representing the interests of foreign residents of the city.

This visit, part of the Host Nation Relations' Public Outreach Program, like those hosted for thousands of others, was intended to share information, be transparent, and inform local governments and citizen's groups of U.S. Army Europe's Strong Europe mission.

Frankfurt, the partner city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (the first German settlers in Pennsylvania came from Frankfurt am Main) and the banking hub of Germany, is often called the "most American city in Germany."

Frankfurt is Germany's most cosmopolitan metropolis and home to more than 5,000 Americans mostly employed in the services sector of the city.

As the city council members noted, the city of Frankfurt in cooperation with the U.S. Consul General hosted a "German-American Friendship Day," Sept. 18, something the city has been doing since 2003 in order to cement the relationship.

The city council's visit to U.S. Army Europe's headquarters is a continuation in that mutual effort to strengthen bridges between host and guest.
