Leaders from across U.S. Army Central attend a seminar focused on a variety of topics and current affairs impacting the area of operations, to include security cooperation, regional conflicts, political environments and socio-economic considerations. Lt. Gen. Michael X. Garrett, the USARCENT commander, opened the three-day seminar Aug. 29 with an emphasis on the region's importance to a strong global economy, which is directly tied to the USARCENT role in protecting the homeland. With 20 countries containing 540 million people who represent 49 different ethnic groups, speak 60 different languages and subscribe to 27 different religions, the USARCENT AO is constantly changing, and the seminar ensured USARCENT staff have the information they need to successfully operate in the area.
