DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Approximately 70 veterans and their families congregated at the Veterans Tent during the Mississippi Valley Fair where Maj. Gen. Duane Gamble, commanding general, U.S. Army Sustainment Command, served as the keynote speaker Aug. 5.

Gamble said the event's recognition of veterans and service members was a great example of the support Rock Island Arsenal and the veterans living in the Quad Cities receive from the community.

Gamble also thanked the ASC color guard for participating in a parade earlier that morning.

Gamble spoke with Iowa Rep. Dave Loebsack and several veterans following his remarks.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue also attended and spoke with Gamble during a chance encounter before Gamble's remarks.
