HONOLULU (July 27, 2017) - Cpt. Dane K. Kuratsu (center), physiatrist from Tripler Army Medical Center, demonstrates osteopathic manipulative treatment in Shanghai while attending the 2017 U.S. and China acupuncture subject matter expert exchange from July 11-14 with a joint U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM) delegation of physicians from the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines to exchange best practices in acupuncture and other complementary medical techniques. The conference served as an opportunity to exchange information on alternative treatment options utilizing traditional Chinese medicine focusing to relieve chronic pain, decrease opioid dependency and increase readiness. The information exchange supports PACOM's health line of effort with China and enhances humanitarian assistance and disaster relief responses in the region.
