Sergeant Major Edward A. Bell assumed duties as the Sergeant Major, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 in the Pentagon on 2 February 2017.

SGM Bell is a native of Tarboro, NC and enlisted in the Army in February 1987 as an Engineer and reclass as a 92A in 1992, graduating as a Warehouse Specialist.

SGM Bell's military education includes Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, First Sergeant Course, Battle Staff Course, Drill Sergeant Course, Master Fitness Course, Air Movement Operations Course, Airborne Course, Jumpmaster Course, US Army Force Management Course, Strategic Executive Leaders Course Certification, US Army War College, Nominative Level Legal Orientation Course and United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class (56).
