Belvoir Eagle earns two awards in Army journalism competition

FORT BELVOIR, Va. -- The Belvoir Eagle earned awards in two categories in the 2008 Maj. Gen. Keith L. Ware Army Journalism Competition.

The newspaper was named as the second best metro, or broadA,Asheet, newspaper in the Army. The newspaper also garnered a secondA,Aplace award in the Special Achievement in Print category for the tabloid special edition, ' Belvoir Transportation.' The annual competition recogA,Anizes the achievements of the Army's military and civilian jourA,Analists. Ware, a Medal of Honor reA,Acipient, was a former Army chief of public affairs. He was killed in acA,Ation in Vietnam in 1968 while comA,Amanding the 1st Infantry Division. The Belvoir Eagle has consisA,Atently won awards for its command information content and two- way communication, as well as its writA,Aing, layout and design.

It won the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Liberty Bell awards as the best newspaper in its class in the Installation Management Command's Northeast Region.
