FORT SILL, Okla., June 29, 2017 -- Fresh off the grand opening in February of the Health Readiness Center (RAHC), Reynolds Army Health Clinic celebrated the grand opening of the Department of Women's Services, June 28.
The second of a four-phase operation to improve the readiness, resilience, and performance of Fort Sill's Soldiers and their families, the Department of Women's Services brings several new services to Reynolds.
"We are proud to announce our partnership with the Oklahoma Women, Infants, and Children Program, more commonly known as WIC, in the Department of Women's Services," said Maj. Nicole Deaton, Department of Women's Services chief. "We have also coordinated with the Fires Center of Excellence Health Promotion Office to bring the Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training program into the Department of Women's Services. These new additions along with our continuing care of well woman exams, contraceptive counseling, and the lactation annex have greatly improved the level of women's care we offer at Reynolds."
Located on the second floor of RAHC, the Department of Women's Services expands on the existing Women's Health Clinic that has been open since January.
"The predecessor to the Department of Women's Service's began several months ago with the women's clinic," Deaton said. "We have been able to offer the services of Lisa Stout, a certified nurse midwife and women's health nurse practitioner, and we provide services such as annual well woman exams, pap tests, follow-up of abnormal results, contraception counseling, birth control options, and STD/STI testing and treatment. Now with the addition of these other services, we can fully implement the second phase of our health readiness campaign."
The WIC office is open to all TRICARE beneficiaries and is open Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon, and Thursdays from noon to 4 p.m.
"We hope that the WIC offices within Reynolds will offer a more convenient option for our beneficiaries who are enrolled in WIC to recertify their vouchers, or bring their children in for their exams," said Deaton. "After we see what the traffic is like through the WIC office, we will determine if we need to expand or change the hours."
The second major addition to the Department of Women's Services is the addition of the Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training Program (P3T).
"This is not a new program here at Fort Sill," Deaton said. "The P3T program has been, and will remain, a part of Fort Sill Health Promotions, we are now providing new office space for them to be co-located with other women's services so that our active-duty moms-to-be and new mothers can maintain a healthy and safe level of readiness pre-, and post-partum."
