WIESBADEN, Germany -- U.S. Army Europe hosted its annual birthday ball at the Steinenberger Airport Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany, June 24.

German Lt. Gen. Jörg Vollmer, chief of staff of the Deutsches Heer, or German Army, was the guest speaker for the event. He reminded Soldiers of the future challenges the Army faces but charged them in helping to keep cohesion amongst allies.

"Together we will safeguard our center of gravity, which is the cohesion of the alliance, and is based on our common values and our years of democracy and respect for each other," Vollmer said.

Soldiers, civilians, family members and guests socialized before the extensive program began. Activities for the night ranged from a three-course meal, color guard, and performances from the U.S. Army Europe Band and Choir.
