The U.S. Army West Point Benny Havens Band helped the Army and New York City celebrate the Army's 242nd Birthday June 14, 2017, as they entertained crowds across the city during a parks and subways performance tour.
The band interacted with thousands of people in a six-performance tour throughout the day. The Band performed at Grand Central Terminal for the morning commuters, followed by Times Square, Bryant Park, 14th Street-Union Square subway terminal, and a performance at the World Trade Center Oculus. The band helped the New York City Army team close out the day with a performance at The Battery in Manhattan, which consisted of an official cake cutting, new Soldier enlistment, and various special guests.
Performing Band members were: Sgt. Maj. Scott Drewes, Master Sgt. Dan Pierce, Staff Sgt. Jeremy Gaynor, Staff Sgt. Jongyoon Lee and Staff Sgt. Geoff Vidal.
