Army Surgeon General celebrates the Army Birthday at BJACH

Lt. Gen. Nadja West, Army Surgeon General, celebrated the 242nd Army Birthday with Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital staff, beneficiaries and retirees. She told the crowd that Army Medicine has been around since 1775 and that she was honored to be here on this special day. Lt. Gen. West, the highest ranking woman graduate of West Point, joined Col. Jeffery Lawson, Chief Medical Officer, also a West Point graduate and the most senior officer with 37 of service and Pvt. Austin Ke, a Nutritional Care Specialist with only eight months in the Army, in the ceremonial cutting of the cake. After the official part of the ceremony was completed Lt. Gen. West posed for photos and talked with staff and retirees. Lt. Gen. West was visiting BJACH and the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, La.
