ARLINGTON, Virginia -- A U.S. Army Europe employee was named the Army's 'Editor of the Year' by Acting Secretary of the Army the Honorable Robert M. Speer during a ceremony in the Pentagon's auditorium, June 6.

Eva-Maria Ackermann is a writer-editor assigned to the Document Management Branch, Office of Knowledge Management, Office of the Chief of Staff. Ackermann's awards is the 11th time a Document Management Branch employee has been named 'Editor of the Year.'

The award is the Army's highest award for editing administrative command publications. Ackermann's selection to receive this award is based on her success in helping authors of U.S. Army Europe units, offices and tenant organizations achieve their objectives.

The U.S. Army Publishing Directorate, Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army, sponsors the annual Army Editor of the Year competition.

Military and civilian personnel throughout the Army who are involved in writing and editing command publications are eligible to compete.

Nominations must show how the nominee used writing and editing skills to help authors of command publications meet their objectives.

A panel comprising seven members of Department of the Army staff reviews the nominations and recommends a winner and a runner-up. The Army Incentive Awards Board then selects the winner.
