Washington -- Recently, 20 transitioning service members graduated from the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program in the National Capitol Region. The program gives Service Members the opportunity to work for a company for 12 weeks, gain industry and work experience, while sill on active duty, at little to no cost for the company.

Unlike other Career Skills Programs, the Corporate Fellowship Program is designed to give transitioning Service Members access to, and eventual job placement in, management careers. The fellows spend three days a week working for the companies they are matched with, and one day in leadership and management classes.

This cohort, which was only the second in the National Capitol Region, had a 95% graduation rate, with 70% of the fellows walking away with job offers. According to Crystal Cochran, the National Capital Region Corporate Fellowship Program Manager, this is how to "move the needle left of transition."

"[Service Members] bring incredible value, but it's hard to communicate that value," said Maj. Jason Zeruto during the Commencement Speech. That's where programs like Hiring Our Heroes help, by assisting transitioning Service Members to translate their accomplishments and duties into civilian terms, and gain employment after leaving the military.
