HONOLULU, Hawaii (May 22, 2017) - Tripler Army Medical Center celebrated Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month on May 19. The entertainment included a martial arts demonstration, an ukulele-accompanied version of the national anthem, 25th Infantry Division Haka dancers and a special Asian menu served at Tripler's Anuenue Café, culminating in remarks given by guest speaker, Col. Editha Dulce Ruiz, Director of Tripler's Maternal Child Nursing section. Ruiz shared her story of immigration from the Philippines to the U.S. in 1972 prior to martial law being imposed in the country.
