The 2017 Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood Best Warrior Competition began Monday on post.

Over a period of four days, the competition tests warriors' mental agility, military knowledge and physical endurance through fitness tests, basic rifle marksmanship, written exams and Warrior tasks and battle drills.

Service members from across the installation compete for the titles of Drill Sergeant of the Year, Advanced Individual Training Platoon Sergeant of the Year, Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, Soldier of the Year, Junior Officer of the Year, Joint Service NCO of the Year and Joint Service Junior Enlisted Service Member of the Year.

Winners for this year's competition are slated to be announced at 10 a.m., today on Gammon Field.

The Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and Soldier of the Year winners will represent Fort Leonard Wood at the Training and Doctrine Command's BWC in July at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

The Drill Sergeant and AIT Platoon Sergeant of the Year will compete for the TRADOC titles in September at Fort Jackson.

Fort Leonard Wood has claimed the DSoY title for three consecutive years since 2014.
