The Training Support Center on Fort Leonard Wood is the home of the Training Aids and Devices, Simulator, Simulations certification and training system (TADSS) and where service members go to receive the training they need to be successful on their missions.
The TADSS certification is in place to train and certify service members on several systems such as the HMMWV Egress Assistance Trainer, the Non-Pyro Improvised Explosive Device Effects Simulator, the Laser Marksmanship Training System, and the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System.
"Certain simulators require certifications due to the complexity of the system," said Juan Rodriguez, training supervisor at the Training Support Center.
As the military progresses and missions become heavily involved with technical equipment, the importance of hands on training on each system has increased.
"We do it in order for the user to accomplish their training mission," Rodriguez said. "Also, in order to preserve the equipment, it is important we ensure the system is being properly ran and used correctly."
Lloyd Nash Jr., training instructor at the Training Support Center, said their mission is not only to teach Soldiers how to operate the equipment, but to show them how easy these systems are to use.
"Ultimately, what we teach them about using our equipment will affect them on the battlefield," Nash said. "That alone makes our job important to us."
Although the initial training and certification of Soldiers is the job of the trainers, re-fresher training is encouraged and further assistance is available upon request.
Rodriguez added though civilians and military personnel have different jobs, they train as a team in order to accomplish their mission.
