"Although the Maintenance and Supply Excellence competitions have not yet been announced, I'm confident USAREUR will be well represented there too", said Col. Edward Burke, USAREUR G4 director. "As you well know, Strong Europe is the Army's best leadership lab!"

"Since the inception of the program, USAREUR is the first command to receive all six awards twice under the Active Army Component," Aaron Burr, Deployment Excellence Award Program Manager for USAREUR G4 said. "This is indicative to Soldiers' commitment to excellence. Commanders recognize this competition as a great opportunity to further improve their deployment operation processes, which also positively impacts the unit readiness."

To compete in the DEA program, a unit must self-nominate and is required to have either executed a deployment or have supported a training/contingency deployment during the fiscal year. The fiscal year begins Oct. 1st of each year and ends Sept. 30 of the following calendar year.
