DAVENPORT, Iowa - The U.S. Army Sustainment Command, headquartered at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, hosted a Senior Leaders Forum at the Radisson Hotel, here, March 29 - 31.
The event brought together leaders representing ASC's seven Army Field Support Brigades, 20 Logistic Readiness Centers, and six Contracting Support Brigades located across the nation and around the world.
Gen. Gustave Perna, commanding general, U.S. Army Materiel Command, participated in the forum during the first day.
"Our role is to make sure that our equipment that our Soldiers has is ready, the key to that though is making sure we clearly understand what we have to achieve, knowing where we're at and then understanding what resources whether it's people, money or equipment to make that come to fruition," Perna said.
ASC, who Perna referred to as "AMC's quarterback," is the operational arm of AMC. ASC's mission is to integrate and synchronize AMC's capabilities to deliver readiness at the operational and tactical points of need.
The forum, hosted by Maj. Gen. Edward Daly, senior commander, Rock Island Arsenal and commanding general of ASC, focused on command mission sets, priorities and objectives, and initiatives, and how they support the chief of staff of the Army, Gen. Mark Milley's, main priority -- readiness.
"The Army has placed enormous faith in the employees of our command that are located around the world to execute this vital mission," said Daly. "We all play a critical role in this worldwide logistics organization, which has more than 36,000 personnel located in more than 20 countries and 32 states. If this organization was a publicly traded company, we would be a Fortune 500 company."
The global forum enabled leaders from across the command to communicate and collaborate, and ensure their missions were aligned with AMC and Army priorities.
"We had great discussions and exchanges of ideas," said Larry Githerman, director, Logistics Readiness Center-Riley. "The Global Leaders Forum was a great opportunity to hear senior leaders discuss focus, direction, and desired outcomes."
Key areas of discussion among the attendees included:
• Strategic Power Projection of the force to support worldwide priorities
• Army Readiness
• Army Contracting Solutions
• Army Prepositioned Stocks
• Logistics Readiness Centers
