Corpus Christi Army Depot Commander, Col. Allan H. Lanceta, made a splash at local waterpark, Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi, where he served as the featured speaker at a Padre Island Business Association luncheon, April 13.

The Veranda Restaurant at Schlitterbahn was filled with attendees hungry for lunch and information about what goes on at CCAD.

After recognizing veterans in the crowd, Lanceta explained CCAD's role in defense.

"We are part of national security," he said. "We build helicopters for our service members."

Lanceta went on to explain CCAD's current key undertaking to streamline their helicopter production processes. By identifying bottlenecks in material flow before aircraft reach the depot, program managers can find effective solutions to improve the building process.

The U.S. Army's UH-60 Black Hawk is one of the primary aircraft produced at CCAD. The Army plans to convert the UH-60 Lima to the latest Victor configuration. Lanceta wants to ensure CCAD is poised to receive the new workload.

"We will work hard to get the UH-60V to Corpus Christi," he said at the luncheon. "It will have an effect on the Corpus Christi community and CCAD's future."

As the largest tenant on Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, CCAD has a prominent role in the local military community. Nearly 3,500 people work at the depot, adding $2.5 billion to the local economy each year.

The depot works with the community to enhance economic growth and opportunities through continued education programs, civic partnerships, and local development boards.

Padre Island Business Association's mission is to advance and promote the economic environment for business, and to advocate responsive government and quality education, while preserving the unique community characteristics of Padre Island - Corpus Christi and Mustang Island - Corpus Christi, Texas.
