In keeping with a rich tradition, the Redstone-Huntsville Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army presented its annual Civilian of the Year awards during a dinner on April 4 at the Jackson Center.
The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command acknowledges and congratulates the Command's nominees.
Myra Gray, Ph.D., Executive Director for U.S. Army Test, Measurement and Diagnostics Equipment Activity (USATA), has been acknowledged for contributing to the Army goals and values by showing innovative management and leadership experience in acquisition, technology, operations and logistics.
Rebecca Weirick, Executive Director for Army Contracting Command-Redstone (ACC-R), has been acknowledged for working tirelessly to reduce Procurement Acquisition Lead Times and ensure that CSA General Mark Milley's direction of, "Readiness," is executed. With her support, ACC-R is quickly delivering contracted supplies and services to the warfighter, while at the same time still honoring a fiduciary responsibility to the U.S. taxpayer.
Both Gray and Weirick were nominees in the Management Executive category.
Rebecca Shelton, Senior Engineer and Continuous Process Improvement advisor, Army Primary Standards Lab, has been acknowledged for demonstrating support to the Army goals and values through her initiative and determination to improve USATA's performance in several critical and key areas.
Daniel Stewart, Information Technology Specialist, has been acknowledged for his current role as the Cyber Security Program Management Team Lead in the Cyber Security and Collaboration Division of AMCOM. He oversees Command Cyber Security policies, programs and training for the workforce. Stewart serves as the focal point for all Cyber Security issues and ensures the network information systems are ready to enable the Army.
Both Shelton and Stewart were nominees in the Professional Technical category.
Claudinette Purifoy-Fears, G-4 Military Construction (MILCON) Programming and Planner, has been acknowledged for her willingness to serve where needed to support AMCOM and the Soldier. Her experience is used to tackles military construction projects and support the warfighter at Letterkenny and Corpus Christi Army Depots and she has the foresight to envision the future and sense of purpose to plan and execute a path to get there.
Larry Tarr, Director of the Army Primary Standards Lab, has been acknowledged for providing calibration and repair support and measurement traceability for over 836,000 items of TMDE used in support of Army maintenance, testing, and research and development efforts worldwide. Under Tarr's exceptional leadership, the APSL is a world-renowned metrology center of excellence sustaining Army readiness and the strength of the Nation.
Both Purifoy-Fears and Tarr were nominees in the Technical Management category.
