Two years after introducing the Micro Market to the Corpus Christi Army Depot, the Navy Exchange Command was on-hand to celebrate the opening of its newest store in the depot's headquarters building, March 21.
Representatives of the NEX Command were welcomed to CCAD by Deputy to the Commander, Mark Wagner; Sgt. Major Louis Felicioni, and NASCC Commanding Officer, Capt. Steven Banta for the event.
To celebrate the momentous event, Gary King, Senior Vice President CONUS Ops and Christina Giordano, VP Mid-South District NEX Command, were present as Steve Evans, local NEX General Manager, cut the ribbon to open CCAD's fifth addition since its first store opened in October 2015.
The partnership goal to improve personnel support on board military installations originated at CCAD with the launch of the Micro Market and is now being used as a model by NEX stores globally.
It's a welcome addition of food choices and the concept has been such a success that a second self-checkout station is being added to adequately meet the demand for available products during the busy break and lunch times.
The convenient and fully automatic merchandising model has the look and feel of a self-checkout retail food store stocked with healthy options available 24/7 for the workforce.
