FORT BLISS, Texas - First time competitor, Capt. Rolando R. Reyes, from the Tripler Army Medical Center's Warrior Transition Unit won a bronze medal in the upright male 30K cycling event during the Warrior Care and Transition's 2017 Army Trials on April 2. Reyes trained with expert military adaptive sports coaches the week prior to prepare for the actual competition. At the race each athlete took off a few minutes apart using their own time to track progress. The final results were not revealed until the cycling medal ceremony and Reyes was really surprised at how well he did. More importantly, Reyes found cycling as a new adaptive sports activity that he really enjoys all because he challenged himself to try something new.
