Media advisory: U.S. Army, Romanian Land Forces host opening ceremony for Resolute Castle 2017

CINCU, Romania--The U.S. Army's 926th Engineer Brigade in conjunction with Romanian Land Forces 10th Engineer Brigade will conduct an opening ceremony for Resolute Castle 2017 at Land Forces Combat Training Center (CTC) "Getica" in Cincu, Romania in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve Friday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m.

Resolute Castle (RC17) is a U.S.-led, troop construction exercise focused on improving infrastructure and building the capacity of central and eastern European Allies and Partners.

The combined forces engineer exercise consists of a series of construction projects from April 14 to September 30, 2017, to include a brigade-level command engineer readiness training exercise. U.S. Army, Romanian Land Forces, British Monmouthshire Royal Engineers, and U.S. Navy Seabees will participate in RC17 constructing non-standard firing lanes, multi-purpose cover shelters, ammo loading docks, breach facilities, and moving armored targets at training sites in Romania and Poland.

During the ceremony, signifying the beginning of RC17, media will observe a formation of troops, remarks from distinguished guests, the ceremonial playing of participating nations' anthems, and the raising of the respective nations' flags.

Collaboration of U.S., Romanian and British forces in the construction of these projects enhances the NATO Alliance and supports Operation Atlantic Resolve, improving the combined forces' capability to defend the collective security of eastern European nations. The training mission further enables the full participation of the combined forces as operational partners in responding to threats or crisis in the region.

All media representatives seeking to access to the Romanian Land Forces CTC must submit their full name, passport number with passport expiration date, media organization and media card identification number (if applicable). Please also submit vehicle information to include make, model and license plate number of media representative vehicle, if driving on base.

Journalists who sent registration information to attend the event will be received at the main gate of Land Forces CTC, Friday, April 14, between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. POC for access is Cpt.
