In honor of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of engineers, the Fort Leonard Wood Marine Corps Detachment Engineer Equipment Instruction Company met on the field of battle for a little friendly competition.

The annual field meet is an opportunity for Marine engineers to get together and celebrate the camaraderie of being Marines and engineers, said Marine Staff Sgt. Mark Bruce, event planner and master of ceremonies.

Teams representing the various courses offered here battled for the coveted castle trophy. In the end, the team from the Engineer Equipment Chiefs Course earned the title of champions. This marks the first time the chiefs have won the event.

Many events in this year's field meet were patterned after the Highland games, including the caber toss and stone put, Bruce said.

Marines also competed in the tire flip, "dizzy izzy" and relay races, Blarney Stone painting, back hoe pull and a tug-of-war tournament.
